“Investments” means funds and tangible, intangible and financial assets assessed in the manner prescribed by laws and other legal acts, invested in order to obtain from the object of investment profit (income), social result (in education, culture, science, health and social security as well as other similar spheres) or to ensure the implementation of state functions. [
The goal of investment policy of Lithuania is to improve Lithuania's investment environment and create and effective system of promoting direct domestic and foreign investment, primarily oriented to long-term national economic development, economic growth and improvement of public welfare.
The Ministry of Economy is participating in shaping and implementing investment policy. For this purpose the Ministry of Economy:
· makes analysis of investment changes and impact on development of economy, offers proposals to the Government of Republic of Lithuania for the development and promotion favorable and competitive investment environment, participate in the process of developing favorable investment environment;
· administrates and coordinates establishment substantiation, the very process of establishment and functioning of Free Economic Zones in the
· coordinates projects of development of public industrial parks;
· coordinates cooperation with international organizations and technical assistance within the aria.
