Recognition of the Regulated Professional Qualifications
Recognition of the regulated professional qualifications in the Republic of Lithuania is coordinated by the Ministry of Economy. The coordinate institution designates a Coordinator for the recognition of professional qualifications, who provides information for the EU Commission and other Member States, and also performs other functions.
The Ministry of Economy, as the contact institution following Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the recognition of professional qualifications, is responsible for:
• providing necessary information to the citizens and contact points of other Member States concerning the recognition of professional qualifications including information relating to the national laws, regulated professions and professional activities as well as laws on social security and, where appropriate, the rules of ethics;
• in cooperation with the contact points of other EU Member States and the competent authorities of the Republic of Lithuania, assisting citizens in realizing the rights determined in the Law on the Recognition of Regulated Professional Qualifications of the Republic of Lithuania;
• administrating the website of the recognition of the regulated professional qualifications in the Republic of Lithuania;
• arranging and organizing the publishing of the methodological and information-related materials.
Following the 31 August 2010 Order No 4-668 of the Minister of Economy on the Approval of the List of the Regulated Professions, 29 regulated professions exist in the Republic of Lithuania.
