Innovation Policy

Innovation, its development and promotion is an essential direction of the Lithuanian economy, a guarantee for competitiveness and welfare growth of the country. The priorities of the Lithuanian innovation policy have been clearly defined in the Lithuanian Innovation Strategy for the year 2010–2020 approved in 2010. The main objective of this strategy is to build a creative society and create the conditions for the development of entrepreneurship and innovation. Objectives and goals of innovation development following to the strategy are as follows:
  • to accelerate Lithuania’s integration into the global market (“Lithuania without borders”);
  • to educate a creative and innovative society;
  • to develop broad-based innovation;
  • to implement a systematic approach to innovation.
It is an umbrella strategy encompassing all innovation-related fields. The Strategy also distinguishes four areas potentially generating highest value added: cleantech, future energy, creative industries, wellbeing and wellness
