2012-02-15 - Lithuanian economic representation reinforced on US West Coast
The Lithuanian business representation was officially opened in the ‘cradle’ of newly emerging IT companies of the US West Cost in San Francisco and in the Silicon Valley.
“San Francisco and the adjacent Silicon Valley is a unique spot where universities and research sites unite and where new ideas, businesses and corporations are born in very innovative fields like IT, biomedicine, biochemistry, mechanics, etc.,“ Minister of Economy Rimantas Žylius said in his opening speech at the Lithuanian representation.
“In this market and environment we want and must introduce ourselves intellectually and very creatively. We can see a high need and potential for this. For this particular reason the Lithuanian representation was set up here. We believe in our success in this field. Our aim is not only introducing the Lithuanian investment environment, the science valleys we create and the economic development zones, but also hearing from the US newly emerging corporations what kind of business ecosystem and environment they would anticipate in Lithuania. We will try to take note of that when talking to investors and innovative technology companies intending to expand and establish in Lithuania,” Žylius added.
Lithuania will be represented in the Silicon Valley by US consultancy firm Noah Mamet & Associates LLC. Lithuanian entrepreneurs willing to find out opportunities to introduce their business to the US market should first contact public institution Enterprise Lithuania at 8 700 77001 or by e-mail to info@verslilietuva.lt
Participants at the business event held on the occasion of the opening of the Lithuanian representation included representatives of San Francisco-based banks Wells Fargo and City National Bank, President of San Francisco Chamber of Commerce (http://www.sfchamber.com) Steven Falk, Executive Director of the San Francisco Center for Economic Development (www.sfced.org) Dennis Conaghan and representatives of IT companies and the University of California.
